Famous Tea Myths
You already know that tea is one of the most healthiest beverages. To back that up, studies show that if you drink tea on a regular basis, you may reduce your risk of Alzheimer's and diabetes. On top of that, you can have healthier teeth and gums and stronger bones. However, not just about everything you've heard about tea is true. Here are 5 popular tea myths busted.
#1 Green tea can make you lose weight
Some surgeries like liposuction can slim you down quickly. Diseases like typhoid and dysentery will make you lose weight rapidly. But the healthy way to lose weight can happen only through a balanced diet and exercise. This means that drinking green tea and losing weight is just another one of popular tea myths.#2 Black Tea should be black
This is definitely one of the most common myths. Black tea is one of the easiest and healthiest drinks and can even be prepared by adding cardamom, cinnamon, ginger or cloves. If you add milk or honey, it only adds to the flavor and richness to it. Nowadays, you have even better options, such as using soy milk or almond milk in the tea, which only makes it even better tasting.#3 Tea and Vitamins should not be taken together
This is true to some extent. This fact is even more important for pregnant women who take prenatal vitamins as tea. This happens to be the case especially for black tea which hinders the process of iron and supplements absorption.#4 Tea doesn’t have an expiry date
At the end of the day, tea is an agricultural product. This means that the longer you keep it around, the staler it gets. Tea usually has a shelf life of six months from the date of picking. After this period, it progressively loses its catechins, a class of antioxidants which represents the reason why tea is considered healthy.
