The Best Tea Quotes for Nerds Who Love Tea

Tea and nerdy fandoms belong together, and we have nerdy quotes to back up the claim. Tea might not be the main character in these scenes, but it’s safe to say your favorite movies and books wouldn’t be the same without tea.

Whether for comfort or a good laugh, tea brings out the best in your favorite nerdy characters.

So, are you ready for an adventure? Join us on an intergalactic and time-hopping tour that celebrates all things tea and nerd culture.

Buckle up! The nerdy quote tea tour begins in three…two…one…engage!

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Funko Pop of Captain Kirk from Star Trek standing in a bed of grass.

Could the USS Enterprise go where no one has gone before, without tea? Absolutely not!

When Jean-Luc Piccard — the Captain of the Enterprise — needs to get the job done, the only fuel he asks for time and again is tea. “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.” is one of the most popular nerdy quotes you’ll recognize from Star Trek.

Jean-Luc teaches you how to enjoy life's little things — like a cup of tea and a good book. In one episode you even see him eating delicate finger sandwiches while aboard a shuttle pod with Wesley.

Consider yourself lucky if you find yourself on the Enterprise in the middle of space. Their replicators create consistently delicious tea that actually tastes like tea.

Trust us — you don’t want to find yourself in Authur’s unfortunate situation.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Bright pink scrabble squares on a stark white background spelling out “Don’t Panic” as inspiration for a nerdy quote.

Don’t panic! There’s plenty of tea to go around and you are still living on planet Earth — at least for now — hooray!

But, your heart goes out to poor Arthur who cannot for the life of him get a decent cup of tea. After Earth is destroyed in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Arthur finds himself in one precarious situation after another.

You would think that a half-decent replicating machine would be able to recreate Earth’s most popular drink — but according to this nerdy quote, it can’t:

“[Aurthur] had found a Nutri-Matic machine which had provided him with a plastic cup filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.”

You feel bad for the guy — he just wants a cup of his favorite drink. Is that so much to ask after your planet has been blown to smithereens?

Arthur doesn’t want to save the day, he just wants a cup of tea. “A cup of tea would restore my normality," he sighs.

Let’s get out of this no-tea-zone and continue our tour across space and time to explore more nerdy quotes. You may recall a certain Time Lord for whom tea — quite literally — restores his normality.

Dr. Who

This cheeky British show is riddled with scenes of nerdy quotes and tea. In fact, it was The Eighth Doctor who said you should “never turn down tea if it’s offered. It’s impolite, and that’s how wars start.”

And few true fans will forget the friendly Dalek asking, “Would you care for some tea?” — You still don’t know if you should laugh or cringe at the sound of its voice. But, it’s The Fifth Doctor who takes the teapot for the best funny nerdy quote in the series.

He vigorously inhales the fumes from some spilled tea and recharges himself just in time to save the world — naturally. “Tea!” he exclaims. “That's all I needed! Good cup of tea! Super-heated infusion of free-radicals and tannin, just the thing for healing the synapses…”

The Doctors know best when it comes to the perks of tea. This next doctor might not be an official Time Lord, but his plans for quantum time-warping inventions are well-fueled by many pots of tea.

Ant-Man

Small Ant-Man figurine playing Jenga on a tabletop with an hourglass, dice, spinning top, and rubber bouncing balls.

Tea makes quite an appearance in Ant-Man. It’s the beverage of choice for Dr. Hank Pym, Hope, and Scott. You’ll see them drinking pots of tea throughout the film as they figure out how exactly to save the world.

You can hardly resist the scenes with those little ants plopping sugar cubes into teacups — no nerdy quotes needed here for these adorable scenes. Who knew ants could be so cute?

But, it’s Scott who ruins the heartfelt moment between Hope and her father, Hank. You’ll remember that the two are trying to rekindle their relationship. Scott tries to salvage his fumble and save the moment by heading to the kitchen while saying, “I’m going to make some tea.”

Tea might not have been an everyday occurrence for Scott until he partnered up with Hank and Hope — maybe Scott enjoyed coffee more than tea, like most Americans. To each their own.

But, for your magical British friends across the pond, tea is woven into every facet of daily life.

Harry Potter

A boy with dark hair, black robes, and a red and gold tie looking through an old leather-bound book.

In 1990s England, tea is a natural fixture of everyday life — even in the wizarding world.

There are plenty of nerdy quotes and moments that involve tea throughout the Harry Potter series. From Dolores Umbridge with her pink teacup to tea time with Hagrid and his infamous rock cakes — tea is simply everywhere in Harry Potter.

During a pivotal moment in the third book, Harry sees the grim — the omen of death — while reading tea leaves with Professor Trelawney.

After class, Harry sits down to enjoy a comforting kettle of tea with Professor Lupin. “I’ve only got teabags, I’m afraid,” Lupin says to Harry. “But I daresay you’ve had enough of tea leaves?”

Teabags? — Cringe! You know that teabags aren’t the greatest invention so you’ll excuse Lupin this once because you can’t help but love the guy.

The fact is, it doesn’t matter if tea is loose or comes from a tea bag or a tea sachet:  Tea is always enjoyed in the presence of good company, especially during tea time. And probably no one knows this better than our small friends in Middle Earth.

The Hobbit

A house built into a grassy mound with a green circle door surrounded by colorful wildflowers and a pumpkin.

For Hobbits, the day is hardly worth living without a hearty pot of tea and friends to share it with. You couldn’t agree more that tea helps forge everlasting connections.

In “The Hobbit” Bilbo Baggins is quite reluctant to leave the Shire and go on any kind of crazy journey. It’s not what hobbits do!

You’ll remember at the beginning of the journey, Bilbo was not fond of any of his travel companions. In the end, Bilbo Baggins turns to his new friends before heading back home to Hobbiton.

“If ever you are passing my way,” said Bilbo, “don't wait to knock! Tea is at four; but any of you are welcome at any time!” The incredible transformation and change of heart Bilbo experiences after his adventure is apparent in this warming and nerdy quote about tea.
