When summer’s heat becomes a little too much, nothing satisfies quite like an icy, refreshing treat. But instead of reaching for store-bought popsicles packed with sugar and artificial flavors, why not make your own at home—with real fruit and the health-boosting power of loose leaf green tea?
These Watermelon Green Tea Popsicles are hydrating, subtly sweet, and full of antioxidants. The crisp flavor of green tea pairs beautifully with juicy watermelon, and the best part? They’re incredibly easy to make.

Why Loose Leaf Green Tea?
Loose leaf green tea isn’t just for sipping—it’s an amazing ingredient for recipes, especially in the summer.
Better flavor: Loose leaf tea uses whole or large tea leaves, which means more oils, more aroma, and less bitterness.
Compared to conventional tea bags, loose leaf green tea contains a higher concentration of catechins (a type of antioxidant known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects).
It adds a clean, slightly earthy or floral note to recipes, balancing out sweetness beautifully.

Why Watermelon?
Watermelon is over 90% water, making it one of the most hydrating fruits on earth. It’s a summer superfruit that delivers: Natural sweetness (no need for refined sugar!)
Lycopene, an antioxidant that gives it its vibrant red color
Vitamins A and C, essential for glowing skin and a strong immune system.

A Healthy Summer Treat
Together, watermelon and green tea make the ultimate summertime wellness duo. These popsicles aren’t just delicious—they’re packed with antioxidants from both the watermelon and the green tea. They’re also naturally hydrating and low in added sugar, making them a treat you can feel good about serving to both kids and adults.

So grab that leftover watermelon and your favorite loose leaf green tea, and whip up a batch of these popsicles. Your taste buds—and your body—will thank you.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Teabloom Sencha Medley tea
  • 2 cups fresh watermelon
  • 1 tsp. honey (optional)

Instructions

  • Steep 1–2 teaspoons of loose leaf green tea in 1 cup hot water (about 175°F or 80°C) for 2–3 minutes. Strain and let cool completely. You want it chilled so it doesn’t start "cooking" the fruit when blended.
  • Cut 2 cups worth of fresh watermelon.
  • In a blender, add the watermelon, cooled green tea. Honey, lime juice, and mint are all optional. Blend until smooth.
  • Taste the mixture—if you want it sweeter, add a bit more honey. If you'd like a stronger tea flavor, you can double the tea amount (just be mindful of the caffeine if serving to kids).
  • Carefully pour the mixture into your popsicle molds. Insert sticks and freeze for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight.
  • Run warm water over the outside of the mold for a few seconds to release your popsicles. Enjoy the cool, hydrating burst of watermelon and the clean, earthy notes of Teabloom's Sencha Medley green tea!
